2010-08-12 [Aliz]: Wow O______o now I'm enlightened and confused at the same time XD
But thanks for explaining ^^ I've been wondering about that for so long T________T
2010-08-12 [wicked fae mage]: You're welcome. And I don't think even they understand it. They talked in circles about it...
2010-08-12 [Aliz]: Ouch XD
Here we have many different faculties at a university, and you can get bachelor and master degrees within those faculties. Is colleges something like that? >____<
2010-08-12 [wicked fae mage]: The colleges at the university, yes. One for each type of degree, sciences (which include mathematics, science, computers, engineering etc), arts (English, art, criminal justice, political science etc) and I think 4 other colleges at the University...a
College like community college or a trade school are more limited to say Business or Culinary degrees. Or Lecordon Bleu (spelling) is a culinary only college. Art Institute of Pittsburgh (arts and CAD only), Douglas (cosmetology), ITT (computers and engineering)...but the degrees are different being certificates instead of actual degrees (which only say you went for 2 years at a specialty school instead of 4 years at a university and you took more classes there that relate to your field where college students are more well-rounded)
2010-08-13 [Aliz]: Oh, then I think I get it :D college is sorta what we call "high school" here XD (you usually can't get any degrees there, and they usually cost a LOT of money though =/)
2010-08-13 [wicked fae mage]: Your average college or university student are in debts of at least $20,000 after just four years, $10,000 after two years and anywhere from $21,000 to $50,000 for graduate programs and becoming a teacher...
2010-08-13 [~Spirit Fox~]: See...the price alone is why I'm not enrolled anywhere.
2010-08-13 [wicked fae mage]: Well, usually if you finish your degree and do well enough to get job offers or a job right out of school you can work up until your 6 month grace period before you have to start paying back the loans. But also remember that there are grants that do not have to be paid back and writing contests and such that give you X amount of money toward your college funds, too.
2010-08-13 [~Spirit Fox~]: I'm not very good at writing for something. ^.^'
2010-08-14 [wicked fae mage]: <<< opposite. I need focus with my writing or else it is everywhere and anywhere...
2010-08-14 [~Spirit Fox~]: I had problems in class too. I never wanted to write the storyline they gave. I was happier when they said make up your own.
2010-08-14 [wicked fae mage]: I never had a creative writing class in itself, but we did do prompts to practice for the PSSA tests and whatnot.
2010-08-15 [Aliz]: We don't really have any contests like that here =/ and certainly not any writing classes =/
And the average university student here has about the same amount of debt too =/ $20,000 to 30,000 is fairly normal after 3 years =/ then add almost same amount for another 2 years for graduate students =/
(non-university higher education can cost up to $10,000 for one semester =/)
2010-08-15 [wicked fae mage]: Yikes...(still afraid of the giant amount of debt I'll receive from listening to my 1-12 grade English classes repeat themselves) well some magazines and whatnot (in the USA) try to be helpful. Though you'd have to win, not just enter....
2010-08-15 [~Spirit Fox~]: To make it all even better did I mention I hate school anyway, but because I want to eventually open, or run, a business so I have to go to school for it. -.-
2010-08-15 [wicked fae mage]: No, you didn't. But you should just read up on everything you will learn ahead of time so it feels like a review!-Not school! :D
2010-08-17 [Aliz]: exactly! That's what I'm gonna try to do now XD (though mostly because I seemed to have signed up for language class boot camp O_____o;)
2010-08-17 [Aliz]: Page 6 open O____O omg. I'm getting too many art pages now =/
2010-08-17 [~Spirit Fox~]: I want to learn Japanese and German too, but right this second I just need a vacation and sleep. Desperately.
2010-08-18 [wicked fae mage]: German is fairly easy to learn (I know a few words). Mein=my, tile=part (think of tile as a part of a whole), nacht=night...
Japanese is trickier since all of the words have multiple meanings and contexts
2010-08-18 [Aliz]: I can't write German to save the universe, but I can watch tv/read German without big problems xD
The grammar in German is HORRIBLE though :C
Japanese is a lot easier, I think O____o It's just hard to remember how to write all those kanjiiiii T_____T
Awww =( go sleep >_____<
