Georgia Poultry Park is in the center of Gainesville, Georgia. It has a 25 foot tall Georgia marble monument topped by a 36 inch bronze rooster, featuring poultry industry information on six plaques at it's base. This statue commemorate's Gainesville's status as "Chicken capital of the world." The street in front of the statue is Jesse Jewell Pkwy. named after the man who revolutionized the poultry industry by utilizing assembly line techniques.

The Gainesville Midland

Please Click on Above Picture for Detail.

Information about the Gainesville midland can be found at the bottom of the following link's website:

You can find an image of what the Gainesville Midland looked like in the 1950's, by the following link. In the background of the image, you can see a building with the word
"snow drift" on it. That building was once the depot, then a grocery store, and was one of the only historic buildings still standing after a double tornado hit Gainesville
in 1936. The building remained standing behind where the Gainesville Midland stands today, until the middle of 2008 when it was demolished, and paved over as a parking lot.

More photographs of the Gainesville Midland can be found at this link, unfortunately I wasn't alive during the time to take them myself.;ini=meta.ini&action=query&numrecs=10&index=su&term=%22Gainesville%20Midland%20Railway%22&h1=h1&h2=h2&format=.&_cc=1

2009-01-13 [Hedda]: Nice start! Does that man-made lake have a name?

Aha, Lake Lanier it says in the title... Blind me.

2009-01-13 [Hedda]: I added the names in the subtexts too, and removed an extra newline so that the boxes are beside each other instead of on top of each other.

2009-01-13 [Xuan.]: :] Thank you! i was going to ask for your help, but I don't remember if i messaged your, or accidentally messaged someone else. this is going to be a fun project, I can talk my husband into getting me out of the house! lol.

2009-01-14 [Hedda]: I watch the contest page and try to help everyone <img:stuff/cheshmak.gif>

2009-01-25 [Xuan.]: can you help me make them clickable so others can view larger?

2009-01-25 [Hedda]: I just did. Where do you get those strange links from?

2009-01-25 [Xuan.]: What do you mean strange. I uploaded them to a seperate wiki and then copied the links from there, it would have probably helped if I had copied them from the edit view. :] Thank you very much mister hedda!!!

2009-01-26 [Hedda]: Yes, it's much better to copy from the edit-view (advanced edit)

Otherwise you have to copy the right link. That is: The link to the big image, not to the thumbnail. And then write in img300:

2009-01-26 [Xuan.]: :], so what do you think about my page so far? I tried to make it very informational, since that is kind of the point of landmarks.

2009-01-26 [Hedda]: It's great! No need to go to Georgia now <img:stuff/zabuN-gif.gif>

2009-01-26 [Xuan.]: lol. haha, well you aren't missing out on too much, well not in Gainesville atleast.
