So just what is stock anyway?
Stock are images provided by a photographer, model, commercial or amateur which they may or may not charge for, as obviously there are many many stock companies that manage stock for photographers commercially. Stock may also be a collaborative and cooperative venture where imagery is placed for the use of other artists to created derivative work from, or for where its not possible or not practical for the artist to work with them face to face. Stock may also be your own work, photograph or modeling that you use in your own artwork, either as references or as photo collage and manipulation work. Its a very wide area of photography and in fact extends well beyond it these days with the use of modeling programs and 3D rendering programs that can produce scenes, backgrounds, atmospherics and even digital figures for use in stock work. I do think it should be very clearly stated and respected for any rules or guidelines controlling the usage of the images and the resultant work. I also think its very important that people that decide to do stock work, have a really good understanding of just what stock is, and what makes high quality and practical stock. The technical difficulty and the ingenuity of good stock is very much like being a director, producer, actor, stage manager, makeup artist, costume designer, and set builder all rolled up in one.

2010 Art Calendar. This was produced for a booth at a gathering my friend Thea exhibited at. It has the moon phases and the accurate pagan holidays as referenced to traditional celtic calendars.

BlueStarLight] One of a set of 5 prints of Nicky in Rufus Morgan Falls. It was quite chill and we had to warm her up several times during the shoot. You have to be able to be very still indeed to work with the slow shutter speeds necessary to get this kind of effect and the force of the water falling down the face of the bald was pushing a chill and quite insistent wind filled with cold spray away from the base of the falls.
