A Tale of Honor

Today we feature a short story written by [OnlyHeroLeft].

Let me tell you a tale, young one. A tale of a young woman, a disgrace of a knight, honored for his vile nature, and a truly honorable man, disgraced for his virtue.

It started with the young woman, a lass by the name of Maria. The beautiful daughter of a simple farmer, she lived a largely carefree life. She would assist her family - mother, father, and brother - with tasks around their land as was needed, and only rarely came into contact with many outside of her house's walls. One day, her mother took ill, and her father - unable to leave the farm to either Maria or her brother's yet young hands alone - requested that Maria travel to the village and seek the doctor for medicine. The young woman of course agreed, and set toward the village as rapidly as she could. It was two hours walk, however, and no horse was available to spare. By mid-afternoon, she had reached the village and met with the doctor. He offered her the medicine she sought, and Maria was soon on her way back to her home. This, however, is only the prelude to the story that unfolds, told to you now solely that you would have background for why such a lovely young woman would travel alone.

That is, of course, just the beginning of the writing - to read the entire work, you can view it on A Tale of Honor. We hope that you enjoy the reading as much as we did!

Imperfect

This Featured Story is written by the talented [Lacrymosa].

Deservingly Starving,
I choke down my muffin,
fake blueberries and all.
I'm still hungry but I find it easy to shun the hunger
when all I see in the mirror is the ugly, fat, gross
me.

Please note that while both deep and moving, this story has harsh topics such as drugs and abuse. We hope you enjoy reading this deep story. <img15*0:45154_1117568632.gif>

PriceofSentience

The featured story for 15th September 2014 is brought to you by [Kestrelfeather].

"This planet…we are not alone on it…in the shadows of night, we see forms, apparitions. When I try to look closely, they fade away. This planet…It is my belief that it is not meant for us. I think we should leave. There is a darkness rising on Arjuna.

It takes an unusually high mental capacity to ignore the rambling thoughts of the Collective and focus only on the voice you want to hear. For me, a biologist currently trying to find salvation for the human race, that one voice I search for is often the root of all life: the Earth spirit. There are billions upon billions of thoughts in the Collective. Of reproduction, of love, of war…every life on Earth sends energy into it. Until recent decades, human kind, Homo sapiens, didn’t have the ability to tap into it. Being bipedal and with advanced abilities, the last step in human evolution was of the mind. It took thousands of years, but eventually select humans developed the ability that for so long, man had been lacking.
I am part of the Collective, one of the Listeners, the first human ever to hear the voice of the Earth itself. Although my grades in ‘Silent’ school weren’t spectacular, at a young age my Listening abilities surpassed any other humans’ in the world. At age twelve, I was pulled from school, isolated from the other children. I was the only one in my class with Listening ability, answering middle-school level biology exam questions with complex diagrams and exact genetic codes. "

FTL: Juggernaut

The featured story for 15th Augut 2014 is brought to you by [Tekkon KinKreet].

"As we jumped into the home system, my stomach knotted. I could see the main station, surrounded by rebel ships, like a noose, tightening around everything we stood for.

We were late. My crew mates and I let out a collective gasp at the sight. Tiny, the enormous Rockman, broke his usual silence, catching everyone off guard with his gravelly voice. "The Flag ship, we must find it."

The rockmen were huge creatures. Their outer shell, akin to a humans skin, but much thicker was made almost entirely of rock. Believing honor above all else with personal strength a close second, they made great soldiers, and were often used as boarding parties, and were the first in the fight when their ship was boarded."

We hope you enjoy reading this fun, action packed story! <img:stuff/aj/61513/1267019305.png>
