2005-02-06 [ArchangelGabriel]: Or possibly when their stats hit a certain amount
2005-02-10 [Metropolis]: I got an idea for a community, how about a cyber elftown along the lines of the matrix?
2005-02-10 [The Dark Lord]: mmm i dont see how that could work?
2005-02-10 [Zantia]: what about an elftown where you actually do haveyou own character and house and stuff, and you have to create the clothing, if you know what I mean?
2005-02-10 [Isilando]: Isn't it pretty much the same with this one?
2005-02-10 [Zantia]: no, hm.....erm like you control a little person why the arrows or mouse and can do a number of things something like that?
2005-02-11 [Hedda]: New communities will still be the same kind of thing as Elftown. Just for another kind of people. I'm not so interested in "gamish" things, but rather in communications between people, so that is what it will be about. Or: It's about communication between people, but not instant messaging.
2005-02-11 [Zantia]: what about for goths or comic people? dark layout? ^.^ comic strip layout?
2005-02-11 [The Dark Lord]: i feel strongly about a music communit....to stop it from being a mp3 trading place it could be invite only....or make rules so people arent allowed to upload copyrighted songs only ones they done themselves, like the ET art rules....anyon
2005-02-11 [ArchangelGabriel]: it would be too hard to enforce. Unless it was like Elfwood with moderators
2005-02-11 [The Dark Lord]: yes....then again guards do a good enough job on here....if the rules were made clear im sure MOST people would stick to them!
2005-02-12 [Cactus in a Hat]: I doubt that, some people just enjoy pushing the rules to see how far they can get without breaking them
2005-02-12 [The Dark Lord]: true...some people are really pathetic!
2005-02-12 [ForNeverYours]: i like instant messaging!
2005-02-13 [X-TheDarkened-X]: hey, i would like to help build a community!!!
2005-02-25 [Tyrana]: I LOVE the musician idea... It would be so great to have a place to share music. I'm not sure how we would control the copyright issues concerning the music, though. I think no matter what we do, people are going to try to push the rules. I think that if we had guards to handle it, though, the outcome would be wonderful. It would be very similar to elftown- just with another form of artist.
2005-02-25 [The Dark Lord]: it sure would :)
2005-03-01 [suducing rayne]: i'd love to help with a musician one or photo.. those sound great to me ^_^.. anything artistic
2005-03-19 [IV_bOyLoVeR_69]: i would help with a horse-lover community
2005-03-19 [Hedda]: The problems with horses and photo communities are that there are a lot of them out there. I don't like competition ;-)
2005-03-20 [suducing rayne]: i like the photo idea though.. *tear*.. dang them all..
2005-03-22 [Poindextra]: What about a community for people who are gifted? (I mean having above-average IQ's.) Just a thought.
2005-03-22 [Arctik]: It's called Mensa, dear. Online I daresay it would just be a clash of opposing opinions anyway. 'Gifted' people don't tend to get along very well with other 'gifted' people.
2005-03-22 [FiSHr.]: i think that a programmers comunity would be goood
2005-03-22 [The Dark Lord]: Also how could you decide who is gifted....unle
2005-03-23 [The Dark Lord]: Yes. If that was made the members could help each other out and share tips etc... It would benefit the community a lot to :)
2005-03-23 [FiSHr.]: i wanna help out and you know....well yeah.....cos its all very well making wikis continuosly...
2005-04-01 [Caelicorn]: For the music community - maybe it should operate like some of the others online, where you have to submit yourself as an actual musician. You have to fill out a bio with your band etc before applying, and I think this gets screened?
2005-04-01 [ArchangelGabriel]: Maybe the music community should just be a radio show? On this radio station thats being discussed?
2005-04-01 [Tyrana]: Radio show? How would that work?... I'm not quite sure what you mean... and the application idea where you need to sign with your band makes it a little hard for us solo musicians...
2005-04-01 [ArchangelGabriel]: There was plan in the elftown suggestions for Elftown to have its own internet radio station. if e were to do that then we could have air time for elftowners music.
2005-04-02 [Tyrana]: Oh! That's really neat!
2005-04-02 [ArchangelGabriel]: it's nice when two ideas come together. The big question is what would you call an elftown radio station - Elfchat is taken..
2005-04-02 [Tyrana]: Hmm... Elfwave? I dunno. Elfdio? ...Wow. Elfdio. Evidently, I need some sleep.
2005-04-02 [Ghost Lilly]: What about a community for anime fans?
2005-04-03 [The username is used]: a gothic version of elftown! with a black and red background! elfghetto!
2005-04-03 [Ghost Lilly]: ^_^ hee hee, my prom dress is black and red. But Im not gothic
2005-04-03 [The username is used]: uh huh... a black background with a creepy red font...
2005-04-04 [Arctik]: You can do that with a stylesheet - you don't need a whole new town.
2005-04-05 [The username is used]: sure you do...
2005-04-05 [Tyrana]: ^_^... If I knew how to do stylesheets, I would make a black and red one. For some reason, I can't quite seem to wrap my brain around it, though.
2005-04-06 [The Dark Lord]: i have some good stylesheets...
2005-05-22 [Erestor]: Would it be possible to make a film lovers one? It would be thriving after a while becasue alot of people are interested in films. We could have a up-coming films on maintstreet etc. I think it would work.
2005-05-30 [Catlover]: Considering the amount of gay support wikis on Elftown, a gay support community would probably be quite popular. There are a few such communities on the web, but the ones which work like Elftown you have to pay for - which doesn't seem like much support to me!
2005-06-20 [Ultiem]: what about a gamers community that concentrates its attention on favorite video games, designing video games and so on?
2005-07-18 [Kuramasgirl]: I deffinately like the horse-lovers-c
2005-07-18 [Hedda]: The problem with a horse-communit
2005-07-18 [Kuramasgirl]: What about a specific type of riding? Such as an English riding community or a Western one?
2005-07-19 [FiSHr.]: hehehe sorry....I really would love to setup the programers one at the moment...
2005-07-19 [Catlover]: Like I said, there are gay support communities, but you have to pay for most of them. So though it's not really a narrow field of interest, there isn't much there already.
2005-08-09 [Paz]: Could there be a Spanish community?
2005-08-09 [Hedda]: Probably, but I need someones who can make it grow.
2005-08-10 [Q_Q]: this sounds kool
2005-08-10 [Paz]: I know some Spanish and I'll be glad to help out anytime ;)
2005-08-11 [Kileaiya]: I am definently interested in helping with the Film Aficionado Community.
2005-08-13 [Stephen]: Hmm.. Perhaps a community made solely for Role-Players? I would love to help in such a place.
2005-08-13 [ArchangelGabriel]: I could just imagine it. There'd be a system where you can program details in and keep track of char levels and calculate stuff. It woul be great.
2005-08-13 [Deadlock jester]: *drewl* in other words: heaven
2005-08-13 [Erestor]: Oooh I'd help out there ;P
2005-08-13 [Deadlock jester]: me too :D
2005-08-13 [sep]: I really like the photo community idea~
2005-08-14 [Paz]: I'd love to help out as well, if I'm needed
2005-08-14 [Stephen]: It even looks like we could assemble a basic crew, or some beta testers :)
2005-08-14 [Kileaiya]: Yes, a RP community would be quite lovely
2005-08-14 [Deadlock jester]: yeah...I hope he does.
2005-08-14 [Erestor]: Well I could make a wiki if needed and give it some basic graphics ...
2005-08-14 [Paz]: That would be cool
2005-08-15 [Paz]: Okay, since I got kicked off the administration for the RPG. I would like to help out on something
2005-08-15 [Stephen]: You can still help us....
2005-08-15 [Stephen]: You don't need to be Administration to help.
2005-08-15 [Paz]: I guess. It was er... a bit sudden, so I wasn't expecting it really. I'll help out
2005-08-15 [Stephen]: Yeah, I' sorry.
2005-08-15 [Paz]: It's okay
2005-08-18 [wickedgal338]: how about Dog Hug! Or Dog Kiss!
2005-08-19 [Deadlock jester]: or a general animal-lovers community..
2005-08-19 [Keii]: How about a Japanese Community, for people interested in Japan?
2005-08-19 [Paz]: I could help out on that one ^-^ but I'm busy right now, I'll check in later if you guys want to create it
2005-10-08 [Paz]: Someone deleted this place?
2005-10-08 [ArchangelGabriel]: yep
2005-10-08 [Paz]: stupid gits -_-'
2005-10-09 [Deadlock jester]: -.- how sad..
2005-11-09 [stuffAEAmade]: Warned. If he does it again, send another report and I'll kick his butt outta here. >:]
2005-11-10 [Paz]: you're welcome ^-^
2005-11-12 [h-t-m-l]: ive already had my but kicked out of here loadsa times
2005-11-12 [h-t-m-l]: ya seee. sum call me da spoon and some call me macus
2005-11-12 [Paz]: Whatever name you have it'll soon be 'A banned loser'. I believe your IP address can be permenantly blocked but then again I have no idea how that works.
2005-12-12 [Blaithin]: I would be willing to help out with the Photography community if that was created.
2005-12-14 [xido]: gotcha... sorry I'm behind. I don't watch every community-wide update nowadays. I added my name there, and my cause... Thanks.
2005-12-14 [Paz]: It's not posted here yet, i'll do that so the same problem doesn't arise again. The community has yet to be approved or built so it will be some time
2005-12-16 [Tyrana]: Hmm... in reference to the film-lovers community: would it be possible to include a sort of film-makers aspect? This way, it would be less of a fan-club-type site, and more of a creative meeting place, and could even correlate with musmakers and writersco, as film making ties the two together in a way.
2005-12-16 [Paz]: The point to a film-lovers community is most likely for the aspect for film-makers. A random community where it's just a fanclub wouldn't interest anyone. Like in Musmakers, if it was just for fans of music and not so you could upload your music and discuss the styles it wouldn't be much fun ;P
2005-12-16 [Paz]: Although it does say for those who can discuss up coming films, you could discuss it with the heads on if you could make it a site for film-makers
2005-12-18 [Deadlock jester]: hura!
2005-12-18 [Paz]: Why wasn't he kicked out, the last time he did this? ;)
2005-12-18 [Hedda]: [stuffAEAmade]: Well, I actually banned his "friend". Macus stole his friend's account and started to mess up Elftown. We just can't have people here that can't protect their accounts, even if they are otherwise innocent.
2005-12-18 [stuffAEAmade]: True.
2005-12-20 [Skydancer]: Perhaps a community for focusing on earthfriendly concepts, organic farming, alternative energy and intentional communities?
2005-12-20 [Hedda]: I still need to get this answered: How to get people there? And: What should they do there?
2005-12-20 [Skydancer]: Ah. Well, in the case of the organic communities, I have a ton of folk around here and interconnected websites for intentional communites. once they register then there would be a lot of sharing of things like how to grow things, where to go for best housing in an earth friendly environment, How to and visual diaries of things like building your own log cabin, putting together a solar power system, just tons of things. Let me think a bit and I will write down a detailed paper on some of the things that are out there, and how a new community could possibly be of benefit.
2005-12-22 [xido]: see http://www.the
2006-01-15 [prowlie]: i'm up for the film-makers/lo
2006-01-18 [KT_LUVIN_KEV]: 1 4 single peopople 2 meet
2006-01-18 [Catlover]: There are plenty of those already
2006-04-04 [Just.Kate]: How about one for parents to discuss parenting tips and show off pictures of their kids without having to worry about some perv jacking off to them?
2006-04-04 [Skydancer]: You mean like Elf12?
2006-04-06 [prowlie]: there's a wiki about that somewhere....
2006-04-06 [Just.Kate]: No, I mean something for the PARENTS. Not the kids. Elf 12 is for the kids to socialize...
2006-04-06 [Paz]: You could just open a wiki (like Prowlie) said or you can use Elf12 for that as well... I really don't know :P
2006-04-07 [Just.Kate]: Hm. I know I could get off-ET support for it. And Im very familiar with running a Heddate community, as I am a high ranking official at FAKE, and used to be one at EP before I retired. I guess its really up to him... Could you list the idea, anyway?
2006-04-07 [Skydancer]: You can put your idea up there, :) this page is not passworded.
2006-04-07 [Paz]: Then you can also create a page with what information you would like members to see so they get attracted to the idea, and sign up some support ;) (has experience in making pages for hope to be up-coming communities)
2006-04-07 [Paz]: good :) It's best to start that way... some communities have 'crew-pages' with tech info, etc. but if it's going to be like ET or EP I don't think you need one ;P (they take awhile to make as well...)
2006-04-07 [Just.Kate]: Well, as noted above, Im highly experienced at running the Heddate system. Its just a matter of garnering the support. But, for instance, when I was pregnant and alone, I would have KILLED for a site to share my experiences with others, and get resources and stuff...
2006-04-07 [Paz]: Yes, experience is good ;) I'm sure you won't have a huge issue with gathering support because there are many people out there that would love to share experiences :) I hope you get the site running though, it does sound like a rather good idea! I'm sure you'll get support
2006-04-07 [Just.Kate]: I think Ive got my first off-ET supporter, already... ^^
2006-04-07 [prowlie]: good luck!
2006-04-07 [Just.Kate]: Thankies! ^^
2006-04-21 [striker lone_wolf]: :O Is it now *Brain worls*
2006-04-21 [Paz]: Yes the header of the Elftown Entrance Window says 'A fantasy and Science fiction community, art and stories' :P Elftown was origianlly made for Elfwooders way back in the beginning of time :)
2006-04-21 [Just.Kate]: Yes, but it has morphed, into something all together quite different... Now it is a place to garner favor with the right people, to grovel and work for free until you either go insane from the drama or get fired for having a different opinion. Elftown is a place where drama and emo teenagers have taken over, where there is hardly any art left, let alone fantasy.
2006-04-22 [Kuramasgirl]: Well, someone appears to be in a rather pessimistic mood oO I find fantasy and art hidden all over Elftown, you simply have to look in the right places. I wouldn't be here otherwise.
2006-04-23 [Just.Kate]: I run through about 400 houses every two days, making reports on obviously stolen art. I see more teenaged angst than anything else.
2006-04-23 [Paz]: Yes true but even if you make another art site it will also be overrun by emos... it happens to all sites because they can't keep their crap out of other peoples lives. This site was originally created for art and fantasy but smacktards just come in and mess things up. Then the bad ones get banned and the rest of us can get along with their lives. As [Kuramasgirl] said, you just have to know where to look for the art ;)
2006-04-24 [Just.Kate]: Invitation only would help with the emo problem...
2006-04-24 [Just.Kate]: HEY!! We should make a smacktard community!! Oh right... We did XD
2006-04-24 [pixish]: There's nothing wrong with 'emo' people...
2006-04-24 [striker lone_wolf]: Well, if we use invite only, then it will have less emo's, But then why dont you just ban them when there annoy people
2006-04-24 [Nita]: Wow, and what kind of rejection reason do you suggest? "Sorry, although Elftown is for everyone who likes fantasy and sci-fi, you're way too emo for us"? :P
2006-04-24 [prowlie]: its a little silly to blame it on "emos".... elftown's just bigger than it used to be, so there's a wider variety of people...
2006-04-24 [Paz]: I wasn't putting down emos, I was making the generalization using emos because of the comment above mine :) Even with an invitation only you will still get people that aren't exactly fit for the site. Same thing for other sites like Cathug, should we reject people because "Oh you don't hug cats so you can't be here" :P
2006-04-25 [Just.Kate]: The point is, there are so many, too many, people who just bring drama into ET. I think that some of the "emo" trends look cool, but I try not to bring drama.
2006-04-25 [Nita]: Well, I think saying stuff like "OMG, Elftown is sooooo bad, it used to be a paradise, but now it's the most awful place ever!" is a kind of drama too ;)
2006-04-25 [Just.Kate]: I dont think it was ever paradise, to clarify. But I do see your point XD
2006-05-09 [xido]: I think it's a paradise. But I wear rose-colored glasses. XD x.op :)
2006-06-10 [Paz]: Well I wasn't saying that we did >.< How do we know they actually like cats? :P They could be lying...
2006-06-10 [Blaithin]: I've seen a few houses of self proclaimed cat haters, rise of the dogs kinda thing heh
2006-06-10 [Paz]: Some members there with the usernames 'Cat Killer' etc. end up being assholes and are banned :P The rest came before the application system was put into use. They keep to themselves if they hate cats and thus, no one really cares about them X)
2006-07-19 [Paz]: [Mekashef]: We have the RPG Realm to fit role-playing. You're thinking along the guidelines of gaiaonline it seems >.> Can't you just make your own wiki that fits that sort of need? It does take a lot of work but you can easily set up a point-builidin
2006-07-20 [Mekashef]: RPG Realm sounds like a great idea & I will definately take part of that when it's up. I think it certainly has its advantages, but it isn't going to be a dynamic role-playing environment. I would gladly set up my own wiki-system with integrated game mechanisms, unfortunately I lack the know-how.
2006-07-20 [Rook]: [Mekashef], you might want to explore other's rpgs in here, such as [Duredhel]'s Realms of Lemire or [Mordigen]'s The Stray Chronicles or even less complicated text tag-team rpgs like [Kyrinn]'s Book of Ajia or my own Angels Cursed. You also might want to check out Wiki Fantasy Roleplay and [Lunnie]'s Role Playing for Dummies. That should help you out with some know-how and get you on the right track with helping to create your own dynamic rpg :9
2006-07-20 [Mekashef]: I don't know that I'm being understood when I use the term "dynamic." The role-playing circles on this community are remarkable -- however, role-playing functions are not an integrated part of the environment. Moreover, the role-playing games don't "sustain themselves," as it were, organically. RPG-wikis require massive ammounts of organization & supervision on the part of dedicated masters. As entertaining & as creative as they are, such games are still very much like classical, table-top RPG transposed to the digital realm.
2006-07-20 [Mekashef]: My idea, so far as it's good -- & I'm not making such claims -- would be to make the enviroment, or the community, the game -- not unlike other RPG communities out there (Gaia & Ultima come to mind). The advantages of such a community, in my understanding, would be many, combining the functionality of a gaming interface & the interactivity of wiki-media.
2006-07-21 [Paz]: The members who help out and run the RPG Realm are very dedicated in their work and are very capable role players themselves. A set up like elftown's is difficult to program something as complicated as gaiaonline. I see where you are going with this, it was the original idea of RPG (for about an hour) but we decided it might be more interesting for members to develop their own role plays instead of following one idea.
2006-07-21 [Stephen]: "dynamic role-playing environment" Yes it is.. we are trying to create it to be used in all possible ways. If you think we should add something other than what you already see for features on RPG Realm, feel free to message me. :)
2006-07-21 [Mekashef]: I'm really anxious to see how RPG Realm will turn out. I still hope a cross between the MUSH & the wiki media emerges as technology evolves.
2006-07-21 [Stephen]: We can look into it. You see, from what I have gathered from Hedda, it may end up so I am the programmer, and if so, then I can directly program things to the server.
2006-07-21 [Mekashef]: That sounds like a rather substantial responsibility
2006-07-22 [Stephen]: It would be. :) I have enough time and energy to handle it though. (I'd need to withdraw how much work I do on other Hedda sites though.)
2006-07-23 [Mekashef]: Well, I do hope everything works out for the best in the end. We wouldn't want anyone to lose their sanity & go on a rampage... or would we?
2006-07-23 [Stephen]: :P
2006-11-27 [Just.Kate]: Anyhoo.
2007-04-16 [DarkJenni]: A dog loving community please
2007-04-21 [Hedda]: I need some sort of organization to back a dog community up. Otherwise it would just be yet another mini-Elfpack.
2007-04-24 [Just.Kate]: Ur, I like doggies ^^
2007-11-30 [Mortified Penguin]: How about a "salute to penguin" website, where I'm the mayor...?
2008-01-05 [Duke Devlin]: I'm sure we'd all love that Mort.. XP
I think the games site is a very good idea! ^^
2008-01-15 [Hedda]: I'm not against the idea, but I don't think there are people enough to really do it. If there is so much discussion about games here on Elftown that it takes up too much space, then a new community for the ones interested would be a good idea. But now it would be a dead place and I can't personally put any effort into making it run.
2008-01-15 [Duke Devlin]: Fair enough. I agree that there would have to be a hell of a lot of people.
I didn't even remember I was watching this wiki. oO
2008-01-15 [Mortified Penguin]: Certainly more than Linkmeet or Baltbalt...
2008-01-25 [striker lone_wolf]: Ok [Hedda] I agree, I think after a lot of work buy a well organised team would help but without the support it wouldn't really go anyware... So if there is proven to be enough people willing to make the community to work then a reconsideratio
2008-01-27 [Hedda]: Of course.
The biggest problem is to get people who are interested in actually doing something to join. People who join are mostly just looking around and then leave because everyone else is just looking around.
And then you of course have the competition from for example Elftown. Why not make a Game News wiki-page here and post links to wiki-pages about new games and what you think about them.
2008-01-31 [striker lone_wolf]: Ok, I have started that wiki page, but i will need some volunteers to help me get the wiki working becaue i only have experience with Sony Playstations and Computers, Any helpful people that play games interested in helping out?
2008-02-03 [Hedda]: If you make the wiki-page(s) filled with interesting stuff that you know about, I'm sure others will help you out. But no one is going to start working on writing news there until there is a lot happening there.
2008-02-05 [striker lone_wolf]: I suppose and that is a good point... I will get to work on that wiki and see how it goes.
2008-11-18 [Hedda]: A community for people who are interested in cooking.
And the big question is: How should I get the interested people to join it? And for how long is cooking fun to just babble about...
2008-11-18 [Duke Devlin]: I quite agree with your reservations there. =/ Although the idea could theoretically work.., most are going to get bored by it. =/ At least after a while. D:
2009-03-21 [Hedda]: But I want you at Elftown.
I think the right action is to develop Elftown instead of making more communities.
2009-03-22 [Rook.]: of course you do, I ddin't mean taht I would STOP comming to ET! Et is my HOME! XD
2009-03-23 [Hedda]: It's easier to get things going here actually. If you create something you think people are interested in, you can (for example) invite the ones who might be interested to the wiki-page.
It's much harder to make people join a new site.
2009-03-23 [Rook.]: hmmm, good point.
XD I know what I would do, but I'm 16 and a 'leader' (notice teh air quotes) XD
2009-04-05 [Fade_in2_Dark]: You would have do another community that was really good, like when the sister site http://fake.sw
2009-05-15 [Alexi Ice]: Role playing community...RO
2009-05-15 [Fade_in2_Dark]: that is basically what elftown, elfpack and fake focus on already. I mean yeah theoritcally you could do a role playing community...th
2009-05-15 [Alexi Ice]: Lol. Fine, fine. I will stick to Gaia even though Elftown is far more superior. People who like that sort of thing don't like Elftown because there is too much going on, too many other things. Role playing is way down on the list for most Elftowners.
2009-05-21 [Skydancer]: Maybe because its a fans of artists, and artists hang out... rather than rp? :D
2009-05-24 [Fade_in2_Dark]: That and the simple fact that alot of people that started on elftown arent as active on this website as they were when they first joined. But eh, that really cant be helped people do have their real lives to lead more than being on silly website on the internet
2009-06-24 [hanhepi]: my husband and i would both be interested in a car community, and helping out on one. (and since he is a mechanic, he would also be interested in helping people with their car related problems.)
2009-06-24 [Alexi Ice]: That would be awesome. I am a car fanatic, but my Mustang is a peice of shit.
