2008-05-15 [SilverFire]: Neat idea.
2008-05-15 [deeterhi]: thanks. hopefully more people will think the same :)
2008-05-15 [SilverFire]: Have you tried asking them to add it to the Main street calendar on MC, or nominating it as a Featured Wiki, both of those might get it more attention.
2008-05-16 [deeterhi]: oh, i was gonna do that in about a week or so :)
(i just feel kinda weird doing all that now seeing as i just created this a couple of hours ago :P)
2008-05-18 [Yncke]: Is it a American comic size page, or a French comic size one? You can get about 12 panels on a French one, and I'm used to those.
2008-05-19 [deeterhi]: it doesn't matter the amount of panels. i tend to create my own pages by buying larger sheets of bristol and cutting down to the size i like (which happens to be slightly wider than American comic pages).
i'm not familiar with French standards so i can't help much there.
2008-05-19 [Yncke]: So basically, the 'one page' requirement of the contests translates into 'a very short scenario'. :)
2008-05-19 [deeterhi]: it's a test to see if people are able to communicate an idea (whatever it is) within one page. because if they are able to do so in such a small amount of space and keep it entertaining, then when it is time to move onto something larger, i know that they won't have too much difficulty with the pacing of their stories.
2008-05-19 [deeterhi]: so to answer your question...yes
it can be a short scene from a larger story as long as it has a clear beginning, middle, and ending, and is self-contained so that the reader isn't left feeling lost or confused about what's going on.
