Greetings, and welcome to Elftown's official Valentine Art Competition!

Rules:

1. NO STOLEN ART!
Images must be created by Elftowners and posted here by the original artist. Which means, no matter how much you might like a particular image on somebody's house, you are not allowed to add it here. This includes random images from the net too. MAKE YOUR OWN DARN IMAGES, DON'T STEAL THEM AND TRY TO CLAIM THEM AS YOUR OWN! That makes us angry, very angry indeed.

Copied art is NOT permissible in Elftown's Official Contests. Please see: Copying vs Fanart & Referencing.

2. QUALITY ISSUES:
Please put forth your best effort and the best quality, i.e.
- no drawings on lined notebook paper
- no pictures or bad scannings of your drawings
- Old pieces of art are allowed in this contest, providing they have not already been submitted to another official Elftown Contest. If your art has been submitted in an unofficial contest, then you are still free to enter it here.
- Drawings must be well shaded and/or coloured and have some type of background. Sketches will not be accepted.

3. EACH MEMBER MAY SUBMIT TWO (2) ENTRIES.

4. ALL IMAGES MUST BE UPLOADED TO ELFTOWN!
To upload your image full-size you can use the feature 'Upload a folder of images' that is shown on your house.
This feature allows you to upload one, multiple images or zip-files in their original size to a wikipage.

5. SUBJECT MATTER AND MEDIUM:
Since the winners will be featured on Mainstreet, images that depict graphic violence, pornography or other disturbing actions will not be accepted. Only images that fit the theme will be allowed.

All mediums, except photography (and/or manipulations) and animated GIF's, will be accepted.

6. THEME: "Forbidden Love"

Images not following the theme will be removed.

Please Note:
- #1: Asking people to vote for you is against the rules! Although you may advertise the Main Street Poll or public poll page in your mood, diary, or house, it is against Elftown Official Competition rules to directly ask people to vote for you or influence people to vote for you through use of public wikis, diary entries, messages, in your mood, etc..

- #2: If you feel any of the entries break the rules, please speak up before the entries make it to the polls. You can still speak up even after the contest is closed, as long as the polls have not yet gone up yet. Complaints received after the aforementioned will not be considered valid.

- #3: For discussions about the Elftown Competitions: Here it's discussed if an entry is in accordance with the rules and similarly more complicated issues that can't be solved with a simple wiki-comment. Go to: <forum:Elftown contests>

DEADLINE: 2009-2-11

Two (2) winning images will be chosen.

Twenty (20) Valentine images will be picked out by the Council and the Assembly among all those presented and a Public Community Poll (Main Street or Poll Page) will tell the winners.

Participants will receive special Saint Valentine Painters' badges and the winners will receive coloured versions of the same.

2009-02-08 [FutureGrave]: Oh can I use an anime pic I got of the web as a reference. Just wondering. I really already drew that one and have it colored mostly I just need to get the shading done and the background. But if I can't use the pic as the reference I have another idea too...I might enter them both if I can finish the second one too. ^-^ I like my tail too, haha. I should be fine on time though, as long as I don't party every night.

2009-02-09 [Artsie_ladie]: If you use a picture as a reference, you add this information when you post your entry. Reference is allowed, but not copying. There is a difference. I suggest reading: Copying vs Fanart & Referencing. This should explain what is allowed and what isn't, rather than I type it all here. :)
