Welcome to Text Adventures! This page and its sub-pages contain a list of text-adventures for Elftowners, by Elftowners. But what are ‘text adventures’? They can best be described as co-operative stories, and are a form of role-playing. (See Role Playing for Dummies for more information on what exactly role-playing is.) Each ‘player’ in a text adventure creates a character that they will have control over, they will write what their character does, how the respond to things, etc. One player (usually known as a moderator, or GM – short for ‘Game Master’) will control the plot, and give the Text Adventure direction. Text Adventures can be a lot of fun, and most Elftowners are very friendly – so don’t be afraid to jump in!

If you have created an new Role-play, feel free to add a link here, but please try and maintain the alphabetical listing, and add it to the appropriate page, in the appropriate location. Note that words such as 'A', 'of', and 'The' are not counted, if your RP title begins with those words, add your RP to the list according to the first letter of the second word in the title. You could also add a link in the comments on this page, so people know it's new.

If you have a text game that is based on an idea other than roleplaying, please add it to Games instead.

Role Playing For Dummies

It's not a role-playing game I know but hell it has its place here. This is a simple tutorial on role-playing to help others understand what it's all about. It goes through free form and a new section on simple dice based gaming has been started. The Elftown's dice system has also been gone through. It's still not quite completed yet but, pretty much giving out the basics, it will be under constant construction until I reach a point where I won't be able to add anything else to it.
