2013-08-21 [Imperator]: Awww, I thought this page was going to be about grammar...
2013-08-21 [SilverFire]: :P
One of the lecturers who teaches Latin at my uni always explains the subjunctive to new students by telling them it's "wooly". Hence why I picked it.
2013-08-21 [Imperator]: And how can the subjunctive possibly be described as "wooly"?
2013-08-21 [SilverFire]: Being related to the future, in which everything is uncertain, "this MAY happen" "she MIGHT do this", "I WISH I could do this" are all "wooly" in their certainty.
2013-08-21 [Imperator]: Is "wooly" being used as a synonym of... "foggy"?
2013-08-21 [SilverFire]: only if they're both being used as a synonym of "vague". :P
2013-11-05 [iippo]: Huh, I never knewed.
