In the beginning
A simple phrase,
With immense meaning
Words that spark curiosity
Of what is to come
Or of what was before
In the beginning
The breath of life
That speaks to us all
Sending the wheels of fate turning
Carrying us forward
From that vast, yet brief, moment
2008-08-29 [Ethan Leon]: SO can anyone recommend any good novels in verse? I've become interested in the field recently.
2008-08-29 [SilverFire]: The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Ovid's Metamorphoses, Lucan's Civil War, or Dante's Divine Comedy are all excellent.
2008-08-30 [Ethan Leon]: I read the Divine Comedy, and the Iliad. But is the Aeneid as good as everyone says?
2008-08-30 [Linderel]: I'm really tempted to ask to hold this conversation at the Poetry Discussion page xD *wants life there*
2008-08-30 [SilverFire]: Yeah, I think it is. Dido's death in Book IV is fantastic.
2008-08-30 [Ethan Leon]: Okay, I'll move my conversations there...
2008-10-08 [Doormat]: Steam what?
2008-10-08 [Linderel]: http://en.wiki
2008-10-08 [Doormat]: Are you cereal? :O
2008-10-08 [Linderel]: ... Que?
2008-10-08 [Doormat]: The horrible pun way of saying "are you serious?" :S.
GL for anyone writing this month :S.
2008-10-08 [Linderel]: Yeah, the theme is certainly an interesting one to apply to poetry.
But never let it be said that I back away from a challenge! Now if only I found the time... It's fortunate that the deadline is so far.
2008-10-09 [Mordigen]: I don't understand - why is everyone falling out over the theme?
2008-10-09 [Linderel]: Because it's difficult? :D
Prose? No problem! Poetry? Uhm... gimme a minute here...
But two people doesn't really equal 'everyone'. :P
2008-10-09 [Chimes]: I reckon it'd work in ballad style, definitely. :]
2008-10-09 [Mordigen]: I could definately think of many things that wold work :)
well, ok, no, 2 people doesn't equal everyone - it just seemed like a bigger convo then it was XD excuse me a moment lol
2008-10-09 [Linderel]: Depends on what sort of thing you're used to writing. ;3
I imagine this theme will take me even away from my comfort zone than sonnets or villanelles. It's not a bad thing at all - it just means I'll be having a few more difficulties than usual in getting it right. :P
2008-10-09 [Mordigen]: well see thats the beauty about art and poetry -- there is no "right" and "wrong" even though we do have a theme - there are endless ways people can interpret that theme ;)
2008-10-09 [Chimes]: :D Interpretation is a wonderful thing.
2008-10-09 [Linderel]: Yes, but I meant right for me. That is: good enough. ;3
2008-10-10 [Doormat]: At first I thought it was... http://store.s
