2007-11-10 [fatlips]: Well here's a big question, can you trust anyone with your secrets or details of your past after someone you loved and trusted with everything used what they knew to try to destroy you, and came close to doing so. So here's the dilemma, if you lie you always get found out in the end and will possibly lose them, you will certainly lose their trust. If you say nothing when they ask, you are secretive, and they just won't trust you, and with no trust there is no real bond in a relationship, so you will lose them. So what if you just tell them what they want to know, well, what if that past isn't such a nice picture, If you gloss over it then it's a lie, if you don't tell it all as it was then it's deceiving and again they're not going to trust you, no trust, no real relationship. Honesty, probably the hardest thing to give completely but essential in building a long term relationship. how do you know if something is going to be long term, well you don't, but if you want more than just a short term thing then you have to be honest. How do you know they wont use what you told them to cause you more pain, well again, you don't, but if you really want to put the past behind you then you have to let it go. Let the skeletons out of the closet, bring the ghosts of your past in to the light and be judged on who you are now. If you are honest and lose someone because of it, then I guess they never really seen you for who you are now anyway, but at least you were honest with yourself and for that you can hold your head high. Will the truth cause more pain, who knows, but I can tell you this, lies most certainly will, even if the truth stayed hidden, you will know, and your demons will keep on coming at you until you can be honest to those closest to you, and of course, yourself
