As for [Xeroh Kanoe], have your friend try applying. Generally, applications don't take longer than 2-3 days, usually much quicker than that. If they haven't been accepted yet, it may be because someone applied for them as opposed to them applying for themself :) But that's just a general guess. There are many reasons why an application may get rejected. And there's always a message to the email address that's applying as to why it was rejected (if it was, indeed, rejected).

It was to giggle at spelling/grammar mistakes and contradictions. People jumped on it, many have added quotes, and all quotes are anonymous, because anyone can accidentally type something hilarious, so we don't want to be suggesting the person who wrote it is stupid.

Now, I was hesitant to make this page, because it could offend if someone took it the wrong way but people make things like "Dungeon of idiots" in which they name people and quote people and these idiot dungeons are a-ok as far as I've seen.

This is not half as insulting. So I said, why not, let's have an innocent laugh.

However, as we giggled and snorted in the comments, [XxTsomexX] got angry at us. She made ET Quotes: Harassment or Truth? and is going to contact you and even try to get me kicked out of the council, or well, I'm an intern, but yeah.

They didn't come to me. They didn't say what they felt was wrong. All they said was, shuddup guys and grow up. Now they are attacking me as if I went house to house, insulting people in their faces.

It's quotes, not people. I would just as soon put up a spelling error of a friend, or myself even.

So when they come to you, well, here's the dealio.

OH! But I mentioned a question above. If you do think et quotes is to iffy, tell me now and I will gladly take it down. I will cooperate to the fullest.

Now, if you were using it in such a way like.... messaging a person with a quote in their house that you found particularly mock-worthy, linked them that page and told them they were now on it, then yeah... that's harassment towards that member (since it's not just quotes, but the opinion of the quote). But that's not what it sounds like is going on.

We'll see, of course, what the other guards think as well, though :D As this is just my opinion

But, I understand why some might have been offended when they walked in earlier. The introduction that is on the wiki now is much more explanatory and milder, than the short introduction that was there before.
The 'Worst OC section' that was on the wiki before, contained at least one character sheet that could be traced back to the creator (which was [XxTsomexX]'s, version 35-37 but also versions that still state the characters name). And as you removed them, you yourself admitted that some might be deeply offended because they're very close to their characters.

It's not always the best action to approach the person involved directly, because sometimes this can make the situation escalate. Sometimes the supposed offender turns aggressive or the likes, and it may not have been clear for Tsome whether or not you would too.
At the time that Tsome saw the wiki, it said nothing about being able to have your quotes removed.
On the other hand creating an anti-wiki makes the situation escalate just the same, as can be seen.
A possible solution for Tsome would have been to privately ask a Guard for advice, and we could have mediated between the two parties.

I hope that the current set-up satisfies both parties, as to the protection of those who wrote the quotes and what the intention of the wiki really is. As well as [M!] already apologising for possibly having offended anyone :)

Seeing as how he says that it was for a wiki, I would think everything would be easier if he had priv 99. If he had it in the first place, then he wouldn't have had to upload it in his house where it was not allowed. Instead, he could have simply uploaded it straight to the wiki... that would have saved both him and the guards some time. Besides... if he were to abuse the priv, you are able to see what he uploads and can immediatly remove the priv.

2008-02-03 [Sunrose]: The reliability of other servers is not our problem, when it concerns images we do not want on Elftown's server -at all.
The possibility to display such images on a wiki is simply a compromise for situations like this.

Taking care of wiki-privs abuse is a little more complicated, which is why they require a little more trust.
You can never be sure if they will be used correctly, but if you already have doubts there's no reason to just hand them out.

It's not like they're images from some unknown or untrafficked site. They're popular photos from a popular site. Yes, it's unfortunate if they are her images and can't post them because of this, but again, proof photos can clear that up. Yes, I saw that you stated she doesn't even have the cats anymore. And that makes the case even harder for her to proove her ownership of said images.

Perhaps when she cools down the two of you will see we're not being unreasonable. The guards are not on a power trip, we're not abusing powers, and we're not delete-crazy. This case shows all evidence to the images not belonging to the member and the member cannot give evidence to the contrary :-/

As soon as evidence is given, any images that belongs to her can be put back up.

2008-08-05 [Hedda]: [ririmu_chan]: You just got your privs, but it's possible for anyone to upload huge images by using the "Upload a folder of images" button in your house. It's a little bit more work to get the URL to the image though and it becomes a little longer name (But you can change the name by writing what it is in "()" behind the img-tag).
