'Self-portrait'

"The reason i am nominating this piece is:
The picture is very skillfully HAND painted in acrylic paints. A theme is developed as well as some imagery.
The world through the archway, behind the portrait, is in darkness and ruins of stone completely contasting the bright a natural world with rolling hills behing the wall which we see. The figure is seen to be stuck between these two worlds engulfed by both the light and darkness. This reflects human nature and how some religion believes we all have a good and an evil side.
Also the rocks around bottom of the sword are used as imagery as a hand which is grasping the sword in a Salvador Dali like style (like in his painting "the metamorphosis of Narcissis"). Also the contrast between the harsh Geometrical edges of the sword and the Smooth rocks and stong contrasts of light make this an outstanding painting which would be appreciated by many artists of elftown."
