Greetings, and welcome to Elftown's official 'Council Portrait Gallery Donations' wiki!

General Rules:

1. NO STOLEN ART!
Images must be created by Elftowners and posted here by the original artist. Which means, no matter how much you might like a particular image on somebody's house, you are not allowed to add it here. This includes random images from the net too. MAKE YOUR OWN DARN IMAGES, DON'T STEAL THEM AND TRY TO CLAIM THEM AS YOUR OWN! That makes us angry, very angry indeed.

2. QUALITY ISSUES
Please put forth your best effort and the best quality, i.e.
- no drawings on lined notebook paper
- no pictures or bad scannings of your drawings
- drawings must be new. That means you may not submit a drawing you have made before this contest or one that was submitted to another contest already.
- drawings must be well shaded and/or coloured and have some type of background. Sketches will not be accepted.

3.EACH MEMBER MAY SUBMIT AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF ENTRIES.

4. ALL IMAGES MUST BE UPLOADED TO ELFTOWN!
To upload your image full-size you can use the feature 'Upload a folder of images' that is shown on your house.
This feature allows you to upload one, multiple images or zip-files in their original size to a wikipage.
<URL:upload_zip.html>
Once you click this link you can follow the instructions. See also uploading images.

5. SUBJECT MATTER:
Since the winners will be featured on Council Portrait Gallery, images that depict graphic violence, pornography or other disturbing actions will not be accepted. Only images that fit the theme will be allowed.

All mediums, except photography (and/or manipulations) and animated GIF's, will be accepted.

6. IMAGESHAPE:
Since it's a portrait, it should have the shape of a portrait: rectangle.

Specific Rules:

This wiki has the goal to create a 'Council Portrait Gallery': Each councilmember will be portrayed separately and the images will be gathered to form a portrait gallery.

1. The entrant selects a Councilmember to draw and submits the image. The councilmember selects the entry he/she likes best.

2. The Councilmember has the final say in whether or not the portrait will be used.
Portraits of bad quality i.e. lined paper, bad scans/pictures or portraits that portray a false image of the Councilmember can be denied as an entry.
To ensure a good outcome, feel free to contact your subject for any hints and tips.

3. Fanart style (ie. drawing the councilperson in the style of, or with references to, movies, books, games etc...) is allowed, but it is recommended you confer with your subject about it first. The subject has the right to remove any fanart entry drawn of them if they feel it is unrepresentative of them.

Deadline: There is no deadline, the project is on-going.

Note:
Participants will receive a 'Portraitists' badge

2006-10-02 [jennafye]: Help! I am confused! How does this contest work? Do you make a drawing of your own made-up council member? Are there council members who exist who we are supposed to draw?? Lemme in on this one...

2006-10-02 [Zab]: There are councilmembers that you're supposed to draw, look at Crew-Photo references, the council and the other links at the bottom of this wiki.:)

2007-02-15 [Once upon a dream]: I dont have a scanner, If I can take a picture and I think it came out good...May I enter it??

2007-02-16 [iippo]: Yes. It's indeed perfectly possible to get good quality digital images by photographing the work. :)
*spams for photographing art for people who don't believe this*

2007-02-16 [Zab]: The rules say no tho... but I do agree with you iippo...

2007-02-16 [iippo]: The rule is a quality issue because not all know how to take a good photo... It's impossible to tell the difference between a good digital photograph and a scan, anyway. So if the digital photo is good quality, just put it up and don't tell anyone it's not a scan :P

2007-02-16 [Once upon a dream]: Hahaha, okay! Thankyou so much! ^^

2007-03-13 [Mikie9191]: *iippo said "It's impossible to tell the difference between a good digital photograph and a scan, anyway". This is FACT! I spent the first 3 years of my professional life in a repro house doing (amongst other things) flat copy of images and text. If the subject is well lit, the results can surpass the quality of an entry level scanner :D
For best results get your original flat and position 2 lights at 45 degrees either side of your subject. Alternatively, use a bright windowsil :P

2008-05-13 [Triola]: [SilverFire]'s image has been up for over eight months now, so I was wondering if mebbe I could get a fully coloured badge? :3

2008-05-13 [SilverFire]: O_O Good grief, has it really been that long? >_< Damn time.

2008-05-14 [iippo]: Sorry, I'll get onto that ASAP >.<

2008-07-23 [SilverFire]: Question: is 'fanart' allowed in this contest? As in... *thinks of example* Say if I drew Cali as a sailor scout from Sailor Moon? :P Would that be allowed, or no?

2008-07-23 [Lady of Lore]: Hmmm....good question and interesting idea. I would think it would be okay since it a portrait of a council member and as long as it still fits that I think it would be okay. Of course others may disagree (:P I still have some drawings of myself in sailor moon style from years ago)

2008-07-25 [iippo]: I'd say it's okay, but I would recommend asking the subject of the portrait first (unless you know they really love Sailor Moon and would be utterly chuffed to be drawn as fanarty thing).

I'd also maybe give the councilperson1 the right to veto fanart portraits... Like, if they really hate pokemon and someone draws them as a pokemon, they have the right to have it removed from the list of portraits (the whole "unrepresentative image" thingie). But apart from that, I think many people would like to see themselves drawn in the style of something they are a fan of. :)

1 Your mac suggested that word. It's a funny word so I'm going to use it from now on. All the time. Even when it's not at all relevant.
