2010-12-07 [Sera Torri]: good :)
2010-12-07 [Kaimee]: Deadline extension! :)
2010-12-26 [Artsieladie]: Closed early at 14:42:35, instead of at midnight, Elftown's time?
2010-12-28 [Kaimee]: These things happen, we're very sorry :( Did you have an entry you were trying to submit in time? :)
2010-12-28 [Artsieladie]: Well, yeah, as a matter of fact, because I received a new camera for Christmas and I'm thrilled because it's my first and my very own digital camera, which I've been wanting for ages! (It's an Insignia; 10 Megapixels for those that know about cameras. :P)
One of the very first thoughts that came to my mind was now I would be able to finally do what I've been wanting to do for a long time and this is to contribute to Elftown's Reference Pictures and photography competitions, which I haven't been able 'to' do without having a camera.
Starting out with this Christmas Photography Competition would have been really nice and fitting, since I received my camera as a gift for Christmas, "this" Christmas. But I still have to learn better just how to use it and so I still need some help from my daughter with just how to get the photos off of it onto my 'other' computer, so I can 'choose' which ones I want to put on 'this' computer. Therefore, I needed the extra time for this and since it was closed early, not only was I not able to enter, but I also lost the window of opportunity I needed of my daughter's help to do what I just explained, because since it was already closed early, her help with the process described, she felt was therefore no longer needed, as did I. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was and still am.
This is why I mentioned the fact that it was closed early in a couple different places, hoping that someone would have noticed, but apparently not. In the past the photography section was left open about a week past Christmas to give people the time they may need to put up their photo entries. Why the rush this year to close it so early? Oh well.. Merry Christmas/Happ
2010-12-28 [Kaimee]: Merry Christmas, that sounds like an amazing present, I'm very jealous! We're very sorry for those who couldn't get entries in for the Boxing day deadline, and I'm very sorry you didn't get a chance to enter something taken with your new camera. Maybe this way you'll have the time to experiment and get really creative and comfortable in the use of the new camera, and you can come up with an amazing entry for the next competition, or the reference pictures as Nioniel mentions above :D
For future reference, if ever a contest is closed before elftown time on the deadline, feel free to post your entry in the comments and ask the moderators if they'll accept the entry. It would need to to posted in the comments before the end of that day (ET time) but sometimes we can try to squeeze an extra entry in :)
As for the early closure, that's my fault entirely :( I had some personal reasons for not being able to get online on Boxing day, and so Silverfire closed the competition at the time she was available to do so.
2010-12-28 [Artsieladie]: Oh I plan on donating to Reference Pictures or I at least hope to. I can't describe just how happy this gift I have wanted for so long has made me and I never expected it to boot! I helped a close friend rescue a dog recently, a Pitbull, we dubbed as "Miss Molly By Golly", so she wouldn't be euthanized and I wouldn't take any money, because I felt it was a joint venture and it really was just about helping this wonderful dog out of a very rough spot she never asked to be into in the first place.
So because I wouldn't take any money for taking the dog into my home, she remembered that some time ago I had mentioned how much I would really like to have a camera of my own and decided to give me the camera instead of trying any more to get me to accept the money. 'Course I pointed out to her that she really was still giving me money, but just that this way it was indirectly, and she said yeah, but at least "this money" I wouldn't either spend on someone or something else, as I usually do, but rather this kind of "money" would remain where she felt it should be, with me. Actually she is right, because if I ever do get any extra money, I usually find someone else to spend it on or give it to. But I've never regretted it. I never regret giving to another.
But eh, it's over and done, so no worries now. I know sometimes things happen that can't be helped. I hope everyone has a not only a great and safe New Year's Eve and Day, but may it also extend into the whole new year too. Blessings to and for all! :)
2010-12-29 [Kaimee]: Wow, and isn't it great to know there are lovely people out there who instead of thinking 'haha! Now I can keep my money!' thought hard about exactly the right kind of gift to show their appreciation! :) Wishing you a safe and happy New Years!
2011-12-01 [Rice]: Contest is open for 2011 8D ... come on guys, let's get in the Xmas mood! OH HO HO *rings bell*
2011-12-27 [iippo]: Extended deadline! Hurry hurry you have couple more days to enter! :D
2012-12-14 [~Crimson Angel~]: Just Christmas in general?
2012-12-14 [Flisky]: Exactly.
2012-12-14 [~Crimson Angel~]: We can be in the photo too right?
2012-12-14 [Flisky]: If it fits the theme.
2012-12-14 [~Crimson Angel~]: So say I wear a Santa hat and a Christmas themed shirt and stand in front of a Christmas tree that'd be ok?
2012-12-14 [Flisky]: I don't see why not. ^_^
2012-12-14 [~Crimson Angel~]: cool
2012-12-15 [Mortified Penguin]: I don't really see how that would be Christmas related though.
2012-12-15 [~Crimson Angel~]: No one was talking to you.
2012-12-15 [Mortified Penguin]: I was!
