Tournament Begins: As soon as you jerks sign up (subject to delay)

Winner of the next round will receive a $50 Amazon gift card!

Losers of the next round will be humiliated, like the losers they are.

Once all the participants have signed up, each member will be paired up for the first rounds of the tournament. To play, you must first sign up at http://www.chess.com and list your username on the list below. Becoming a member of chess.com is quick and easy. All you have to do is activate your account through your email address.

As soon as everyone has joined, a bracket will be made and you will be paired with your first opponent. First, you or your opponent will need to create a game. Creating a game is simple. Just enter the name of your opponent in the appropriate section and decide on the "time per move" (preferably 1 day). You can create a game here: http://www.chess.com/echess/create_game.html (you need to give me a link to your game once you make it, so I can watch it and put it into an iframe)

So, to start a game, go here: http://www.chess.com/echess/create_game.html

Then, put the name of the person you're supposed to face here and click to create the game:

You can play your game at chess.com or, if you prefer, you can use one of the iframes on Chess Tournament - Games.

If you enter this tournament, you can win any one of these fine, fabulous prizes:

<img:http://www.elfpack.com/stuff/aj/389/1320912585.gif>

First place will receive this finely sculpted, golden king.

<img:http://www.elfpack.com/stuff/aj/389/1320974213.gif>

Second place gets this okay, but not as great, silver bishop.

<img:http://www.elfpack.com/stuff/aj/389/1320975918.gif>

All participants will get this inexplicably sparkling brick, whether they like it or not.
If you do not want this brick in your Elftown house, simply provide your address and we'll promptly deliver a brick through your window.

Or, you can take one of these old, less fabulous prizes: Old, Less Fabulous Prizes

1. A single-elimination tournament — also called an Olympic system tournament, a knockout, cup, or sudden death tournament — is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each bracket is immediately eliminated from winning the championship or first prize in the event. Bracket example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9d/Mitbat-2007-bracket-large.png

2. A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost two games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only one defeat results in elimination. 2014-07-16 [Stephen]: Is this contest still being held and maintained? <img:44166_1164903284.gif>

2014-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: YES.

2014-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: But nobody will sign up.

2014-07-17 [Stephen]: This contest is currently being featured on the Main Street side calendar via MC - let's hope for an increase in participation!

2014-07-17 [Sunrose]: amg friends doing favours for friends..such power abuse :P

2014-07-17 [Stephen]: lol!

2014-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: It was already featured there before. And I've actually had fewer people sign up since then!

2014-07-20 [Sunrose]: It's a curse :P

2014-08-06 [Stephen]: Nice to see the Main Street feature is attracting attention and such. *grumble* <img:44166_1164145262.gif>

2014-08-21 [kamisch]: I end up feeling bad when I sign up because I get distracted by things in life, and then my games end up forfeit :( But I guess...free win for my opponent then?

2014-08-21 [Mortified Penguin]: It's better than never signing up.

2014-08-27 [kamisch]: No it isn't...it displays a lack of follow through.

2014-12-15 [Mortified Penguin]: Gonna start stabbing bitches soon.

2015-06-16 [Mortified Penguin]: REAL GODDAMN SOON.

2015-06-20 [JINKS MAN]: I'll sign up and try my best!

2015-06-22 [Baked]: How many people before we start

2015-06-22 [Mortified Penguin]: Might give it another month to let people react to my threatening spam messages. But preferably 16. Though, a mere six people could suffice if nothing else.

2015-07-27 [Xerin Zamaki]: I am sorry I hadn't replied sooner >.< I honestly only log on once in a blue moon anymore, if the tourney hasn't been held I'll try my hand at it ^.^ though its been years since I was any good lol

2015-07-27 [Mortified Penguin]: The tournament is still awaiting more participants.

2015-09-30 [Baked]: How much longer are we going to wait

2015-09-30 [Mortified Penguin]: Give it time! Should be any day now.
