Bear Humans of Madrumah

The Bearhumans of Beorrdâl ( = Bear’s Valley ) and in the Beorrwydd / Bûrwyd ( = Bear Wood ) call themselves Beorrfolken / Beorrfolk / Brindrimm, and are hunters of the woods, warriors ( bee-keepers ) and as well nordic – as also brave and loyal humanoid forest natives, living very simple and being influenced strongly by the Old Religion, with pagan / druid culture, and great cultic warrior tradition.
( In special cases – and especially along the line of nobility of their pure-blooded highest class – also equipped with the gift of shapechanging into bear form )

The hulky, bulky and musculous and thereover wildly haired Brindrimm are extra-ordinarily tall and large, and inbetween lightly over-averaged human size onto giant’s size of over 1,90m.
Have got wild, shaggily dishevelled manes and beards, which they never wash or comb ( but only bath in the cold river or in the clear lake, now and then, by climbing into the water )
as moreover matted up dreadlocks, rampant body hair, also on arms, chest, back and at the genital areas, big, dark, almost pupilless eyes, inbetween deep black, brown and green colours, weather-tanned skin and gnarled up wrists.

They are partly just the same strong as orcs, longer lifed as any ordinary human, robust, resistant and physically strongly conditioned, like dwarves, and merely lesser nimble, quick and skillful like nordic human cultures, which would be comparable with theirs.

Their society is structured similar to the culture of the Kirrn.
It includes clans and tribes, which are respectively under the chairmanship of a chieftain or clan-leader.
In addition to that there is also at least one highest priest / druid of highest class and Dûlhurrn of the Old Religion / ‚medicine men‘ and shamen.
( Druids with stamped out moon- and forest aspect like among the Brindrimm especially in Bannelon, shamen and ‚medicine men‘ and shamen rather acording to the classical local traditions of Madrumah )

Devided in following stands and druid classes:

1)  priests
1) second high priest
2) chronicler
5) judge, lawmaker and ambassador
6) knower of the epics and myths
7) master of magical song
( invocations = blessings, enchantments and curses )

8) physician, knower of plants, expert in magical rituals and surgeon
9) harpist, and producer of magical music, which moves to cry, laugh, sleep or die
10) drink master, knower of intoxicating substances and hallocinatoric drugs
11) specialist for divinations
12) ‚unreligious‘ sorceror

The Bear Humans of the Beorrfolken / Brindrimm partly go back to old-nordic, and otherwise also to old-bannelonic / morrodainic roots, and live – lesser dependant and influenced by the moon as for example Wargpeople ( or Wolf-Knights of Daarhall ) in the forests of Oslivan, deeply in the Olgorion-Wood, or also in single secluded settlements scattered in wood- and mountain countries, with rivers or lakes, all over the entire middle world.
Partly also as nomads, who live in tents.

Their actual conurbation of stelled down kindreds and most important settlements still lay in the valley of Beorrdâl, in the Bear’s Wood, in the eastern forest of Oslipaaz, and near the Wyrrnrànkel – and in the Lagladaan-Wood in Bannelon, where also the woodland of Rood and the bearhuman cave settlement of Dûrimoss is located.
The settlement in Oslivan is designed as fertile little vale, inside of a basin of rock, being steep to three sides, in which a circle-shaped formation of mud- and stone- huts is to find, just as well as also towering up wooden halls, which – the latter – is only to reach hence ladders / logs which are carved up like to steps of a stairway and layed towards the platforms on which they are built upon.
The settlement in the whole nestles very homogenously closely onto a brown-coloured sandstone- and rock massif, in which one can find also grottoes and caves.

A near river, including waterfall, and a little lake gives source for life and fertility. The huts lay almost flat to even ground, lowered into the soil, and are completely covered with pices of turf, possess a flue and an inner roof made out of joists and rafters, and inter-twined branches, an ancient oakentree with lightly golden bark in the center of the valley builds a holy cultic place, in which’s top also their shaman resides.

A stonily reinforced wall made of quarrystone, round-polished by water, and high palisades out of wood in form of a double-door protects them before intruders, enemies and wild animals, at the passable bottleneck of the hollow, where it opens up to the southern wood- and hill-land, as also serves as shield before weather to autumn- and wintertimes.

The Bear Humans are rough, gruff and simple, but at the same time heartly and warm, very loyal fellows.
Depending on temperament and mod rather silent and grumpy, or also straight-out, direct and spontaneous, in tokens of friendship, in brotherliness and attachment, as father, or also as man, towards a woman of his reverence.
Hospitality and customs like sharing the home and it’s enjoyments, sleeping places on their fleece-furs and the traditional gathering around the fireplace, while one tells each other stories and legends, just the same as sharing the mead / honeywine, common meals and bondage ceremonies, the wandering pipe ( and in cases also the company of single women ) are cultural good and part of their traditions, as also part of their self-identity.

Because the most Beorrfolken / Brindrimm are still warriors, or at least martial hunters, and these also recruit their highest worldly stand, they can also act challening, bold and savage, or even cruel.
If they feel provoked or threatened, hurt in their honour or offended, if they are on the war-path or meet a foe, they will react full of fury and anger, in passionate behaviour, with battle-staff, club, stone-hammer or axe, spear, sling or bola.
And oftenly contemplate themselves in raging battle-ecstasy / frenzy of a berserk, in which their eyes glow up red, demonically, they partly develop foam before their mouthes, and expose the sharp canines.

Lesser experienced ( or also masterly, all too intoxicated ) bear-berserks then even slaughter down any enemy blindly, with superhuman physical powers, impact and violence, who comes before their weapon, or in mere range of sight.

Some also grind their teeth, roar and shout loudly and attack intrepidly in pure offensive, and without any cover, shield or armour.
And transform into creatures, half man half bear or beast – or even completely into were-bears in this condition.

A special art and culture which is related to this represents the berserk cult of Björrfjell / Beorrfjell in this context.
These bear-berserks are special, shamanic warriors among the Beorrfolken / Brindrimm, characterized by a hod out of ( toothed ) bear’s skin, shamanic totem / insignia of the sign of the bear and the other holy animals of the bear human culture, medicine bag and ritual decoration made of bone, teeth ( feathers and pearls ) and rune-covered leather.

While some berserks also wear horns or antlers, trophies of slain enemies, and pagan / occult tattoos and body piercings.

The warriors of the cult of Beorrfjell are terrible, mighty and also magically versed fighters.
Follow a strict code of ‚life path‘ just like the Yamaatu and partly also the Kirrn, and live very spartanically, modest and partly even a bit like monks, in ascesis and with shamanic meditation rituals.
Wander as autonomous warriors, mercenaries or also solitary soldiers, in legation of the tribe, the performance of special tasks, or also in magical / mystic mission of gods and spirits, according to the divinations of their shamen, and thus in mission of the destiny itself.

Beorrfolken / Brindrimm rarely use heavy plate-armours, except from stone breast-plates, leather breast-plates and greaves – except maybe for pure decoration.
Never wear helmets and only small wood-shields, and seldomly ( only in wartimes ) wall-shields made from heavy oaken wood.
Their manners and customs seem to be – by all general peacefulness and warm-heartedness towards guests with reputation and noble mind – still partly wild, animalic and brutal.
But never they do fight unfair, unhonourable or unjust, along with tricks, deception, confusion or with cunning ploy.
Against more enemies they bravely fight alone and simultaneously, if it has to be.
Does a hostile folk, night-elves, clumsy and evil devourer-giants or also evil forest- or mountain giants step up to them, so they do not shy back before any yet so inferior fight.

Dwarves are very near to them, Kirrn and wood elves are loved and respected by them, orcs are basically mainly unknown to them ( but they would possibly rather take a green-skinned orc as a goblin, troll, dwarf or gnome, gnoll or kobold )
