Det svenska ordet "att"

"att" in Swedish means "to" as in "to write. But it's also used in a lot more cases, like instead of "that" and is one of the 3 most common words in Swedish.

Look at these examples:

"that"

Jag tror att du gillar att cykla.
I think that you like to bike.

Det är bra att du tror det.
It's good that you think so (it).

Det är bra att det där är över.
It's good that that is over.

Jag hämtar datorn så att vi kan börja jobba.
I get (I'll get) the computer so that we can start working.

Det betyder att något är fel.
It means that something is wrong.

Det innebär att jag är hungrig.
That means that I'm hungry.

BUT:
Det (där) är så bra!
That is so good!

Därför att

Jag åker bil för att det är för långt att gå.
I go by car because it's too far to walk.

Varför hjälpte du oss inte att flytta?
Därför att jag var i Tyskland då.
Why didn't you help us to move?
Because I was in Germany then.

"att därför" means "(to) therefore" (sort of). You really don't need to learn constructions like this:
Det här betyder ingalunda att fotografen avser att fritt överlåta bilden som omslagsbild på en tidskrift utan att därför få skälig ersättning.
This by no means implies that the photographer intends to freely convey the image as a cover image on a magazin without getting reasonable remuneration.

Därför kommer de att dömas
That's why they will be judged.

Kommer det att regna?
Will it rain?

Jag kommer att klara det!
I will make it! (I'm sure I'll make it!)

Kommer du att komma hit i morgon?
Will you come here tomorrow?

Utifall att

Ta med regnjackan utifall att det regnar!
Bring the raincoat in case it will be rain.

Uttryck med "att"

instead of some English -ing-expressions:
Jag bra på att simma.
I'm good at swimming.
  (Jag är bra på simning
  I know a lot about swimming.)

Att det här ska vara så svårt att begripa!
I don't get why it should be so hard to understand!

Det har blivit så att jag allt oftare går ut.
It has become so that I more often go out (on bars/outdoors).

Att vara eller inte vara, det är frågan.
To be or not to be, that is the question.

Uttal

"att" should of course be pronouced with a short a (as the U in "cut") and a long T (a normal T-sound be some silent part before the sound), but it's often not spoken so. If the "att" means "to", then it's often spoken as "o" (short, like "och" with k-sound) and not stressed at all. If used as "that" it can often be left out.

So this in spoken language can be:
Jag tror att du gillar att cykla.
Ja tro'ru gillar o-sykla.
or:
Ja tror att du gillar o-sykla!
But never ever:
Ja tror o-du gillar o-sykla!

Kommer det att regna?
can be spoken:
Kommer'e o-regna?

Det är bra att du tror det.
Here the "att" can be dropped or pronounced correctly only:
(Stress in the bold word)
De ä bra 'ru tro're.
De ä bra att du tro're.
